George Lucas to receive AFI Life Achievement Award

The American Film Institute has selected George Lucas to receive it's Life Achievement Award. He's the 33rd recipient of the award. You can read the full article here. I agree that he has contributed a lot to filmmaking, and so I believe he deserves the award. The innovations he has pioneered (digital filmmaking, special effects (ILM), sound (Skywalker Sound and THX) alone are worthy of a life achievement award. Now, if it were an award purely for directing... well, not so much.

America - F**k YEAH!!!!

Went to see Team America on Tuesday night (it was an advance screening) and it was really funny. My wife and I are still singing songs from it days afterwards. I really need to get the soundtrack for it when it comes out on November 2nd (ooh - Election Day!)

A very, very sad day

Christopher Reeve died Sunday night, after suffering a heart attack Saturday night and falling into a coma. I'm really sad about this, Christopher Reeve was the perfect choice for the Superman movies - and he became a hero in the eyes of this 10 year old (well, I was at the time). Then he had his riding accident in 1995 and became paralyzed, but became even MORE of a hero and an inspiration to all. We'll all miss you Chris, and those who knew you really DID believe a man could fly. RIP.
